Mike Aitken Leaves Hospital On His Own Two Feet
Given that he nearly died, nobody thought Mike Aitken would leave the hospital this early - not even Mike. "I can't believe it to tell you the truth," he said.
On October 5th, world renowned BMX rider Mike Aitken, was shooting a video in Pennsylvania when during a bike jump, he fell on his face and suffered a serious head injury. Mike was in a coma for days. His wife Trista flew to Pennsylvania thinking he'd be okay. When she got there, she realized he'd suffered a brain injury and there were no assurances he'd survive.
Mike improved fast once he was moved to the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. "They say they've never seen anyone progress this fast. They're so proud of him," said Trista.
After intense therapy and an intense will to get better, Mike walked out of the Hospital on Thursday. With his family in tow, he limped slightly, but couldn't stop smiling. Mike says he doesn't have full control of the limbs on the right side of his body.
When asked if he'd ride a bike again, he said "I'm going to ride again. But with a helmet,", he said. Mike admits before the accident he never considered wearing a helmet. "But now that this happened, you almost have to. There's no way you can get around not wearing a helmet. You almost die? Come on. You have to wear a helmet."
Mike says although he doesn't remember the accident, or days after, he does remember the moment when he saw his 2 year-old son Owen. "It opened my eyes. 'What are the things I really care about?' those are the things I care about. My wife and my little boy."
Mike says he is grateful to the many fans all around the world who sent him well wishes through his website and who also sent donations. Because of his profession, Mike can't get health insurance and now has steep medical bills. Of his fans he says "I feel blessed. Each one of them I feel I owe something to."
As Mike walked out of the hospital, about 20 friends cheered him on. Mike says he hopes to get back on a bike in the spring. For now, he'll enjoy his time with his wife and son.
If you want to learn more about mike's progress or make a donation, go to Mike's website at www.mikeaitken.com.

The moose is loose!
Ok everyone so there is a new charity organization called "Best Wishes." Basically Brian Hunts mother,Linsa, came in and talked to us about this great idea, she is creating a clothing company called " the moose is loose." All proceeds from the clothing is going directly towards helping extreme sports athletes without health insurance pay off some of their medical bills. This is the best idea i've ever heard of. T-shirts will be sold in eastern boarder. Prices are $20 for a t, $23 for a long sleeve, and $25 for a tie die t!!!!! Also there will be auctions of T-shirts and other various things signed by EB Pro Team Rider Brian Hunt. Remember all proceeds are going towards the charity. If any of you would like to contact Lisa her email address is diamondsandtreasures@yahoo.com or you can call her at (603) 475 -8688

Buy something on ebay and help Mike
As you may or may not have heard Mike Aitken was in a severe BMX accident. He has severe head trauma. The medical bills will be enormous. Mike is a professional rider and in his line of work he is not eligible for health insurance. They claim he is "too high risk." Mike has contacted numerous insurance offices and has been denied by all. This is where the BMX community can come together and lend a hand to someone in need. You can help.

Stupid
The award for worst job locking your bike at the train station goes to this guy.
The good news is even though the lock only goes around the helmet not the bike, the helmet is actually worth more than the bike.
The bad news is you could also steal the helmet buy lifting the lock over the waist high poll it's locked to.

LYNN JAM BONUS PICTURES
I'm used to seeing Scott driving the delivery truck, so i was surprised to see him pushin' a benzo! That nice car seems to be giving him a big head though. Look at him making power moves on his cell phone. BUY, BUY, BUY NO SELL, SELL!!
This would be a good one for the newspapers-no ramp, just sky, I just need to get an arm going out of the frame or something to make it perfect.
I like this one for some reason.

LYNN JAM
Another contest, another sunburn, a parakeet and a video on the way.
On the way to the contest Scott, Sean and I took the back roads. I was glad we did or I never would have seen the family fried chicken stand out in front of someone's house. They had a wooden box with a piece of plexiglass on the front, a lightbulb inside and aluminum trays with the pieces of chicken in them. They also had orange and grape soda for sale.
When we got to the park Sean and Scott were both relieved when Bill Politis from massbmx.com showed up and said that he wanted to announce for the day.
Bill kept everyone laughing all day, and since he's still getting over an injury he left it up to his brother Andy to do some riding.
I don't know everyones name but there were, as always, plenty of people ripping. Some names i do know, Rory (who has my vote for MVP), Matty Long, Yums, Michael, Zack, Scott, Abdul, Dave and tons of other guys all ripped. Check back soon for some Footage. Thanks to Everyone who came to ride or just hang out! Thanks to all the sponsors and big thanks again to the city of Lynn for hosting another fun event.
